I Like the idea of a 16 x 20 maybe I will try that . Have to give some thought to the idea of the word PUZZLE.

What a great theme. The idea for my quilt design popped into my head right away. Harder was deciding on the size for all my challenge pieces. I’ve settled on 16 x 20, as I can use fat quarters with a little wiggle room. Even harder was choosing the orientation, but it’s got to be portrait. Looks better when I’m imagining the finished product.

Great first word! I think I’ll go square, possibly 24″ x 24″. I have a wall space that is in need of seasonally inspiring cheering up! But that’ll be the only practical consideration for this artistic endeavour. Now for the inspiration!

Puzzled by what to make, I did what I do every morning: making the Sudoku puzzle in the newspaper to wake up my brains.

I will make a Sudoku puzzle quilt!

Oh wow…..I did not see this one coming. This one is going to take some thought on my part. I haven’t even decided on what size I want my collection to be. I am thinking 13″x19″ because that is the largest size my printer will print in case I want to do something computerized.

At first I thought this was going to take a while to come up with an idea, but then I thought why not check Blockbase for all the quilt blocks with “puzzle” in the name. Found one (out of 95 listed) that I liked, with a blank center, and immediately thought of the 12 “birthday blocks” that my quilt guild made for me that have been waiting for a year for the idea to set them together. They will be set in a “Dutch Puzzle”. Being that my last name is Dutch (though I’m not) it’s a no brainer. I know, I know, this is very traditional, but look at it this way–another UFO off the table!.
